After an extremely stressful 2015 harvest, it's finally time to relax. This year proved particularly difficult due to a combination of elemental factors. First it was too hot, then it was too cool, then the fires came - all the while hurting for water. While none of these wrinkles proved insurmountable, the combination served to stifle our yield significantly.
Traditionally, one could look at a look at a low yield and predict certain desirable traits in the final product - after all, drought stressed grapes are more flavorful with more pronounced notes - this year may buck that trend.
While the growing season is over for us, the winemaking has just begun. Keep an eye out for more updates as time goes by.
